Being symptom-free is the start, not the finish. The goal now is to confirm objectively that the brain has fully recovered, find anything still worth sharpening, and build it back stronger than before.
Symptom-free is not risk-free. Athletes carry up to 2.2× greater risk of soft-tissue injury for up to a year after a concussion — balance, neuromuscular control, and reaction deficits linger after symptoms resolve. Re-integrating every system is what rebuilds the protective control that lowers that risk.
System-specific, not symptom-specific — a data-driven picture of the brain, a deliberate window of plasticity, and full-system rehab integrated back into real, high-speed sport.
A standard MRI or CT shows structure, and after a concussion it usually reads "normal" — because structure is rarely the problem. fNCI (functional NeuroCognitive Imaging) is an fMRI-based scan performed while you complete a battery of cognitive tasks. It measures neurovascular coupling — the blood-flow response across 56+ brain regions as they actually work — so instead of a static picture, you get a map of how this brain is functioning, region by region.
fNCI is performed at Cognitive FX by its licensed medical team.
TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) uses focused magnetic pulses to safely and non-invasively modulate activity in a targeted brain network. Here it is fMRI-guided — the target is personalized to your brain, not a generic location — and delivered as an accelerated protocol: roughly 20 sessions over about 10 hours, condensed into a single day.
One-D TMS is delivered at Cognitive FX by its licensed medical team, and applied here for recovery and performance. Individual results vary.
A concussion disrupts the whole network the brain uses to sense, balance, move, and regulate. We test and rehab each system — vision, vestibular, proprioceptive, respiratory, autonomic, and the cranial-nerve / brainstem foundation — then re-integrate them into sport-specific, high-speed movement. That integration rebuilds the protective control that lowers injury risk, and turns the brain map and priming into real, trainable performance.

map → prime → fully integrate.
map → fully integrate.
map → prime → assess.
Every recovery path includes The FE Daily Protocol app. Through the follow-up window, a three-minute morning check-in tracks cognitive processing and autonomic recovery against your baseline — so progress is monitored objectively, and training load is matched to what the brain can accept that day.
If you or your athlete is past the symptoms but not yet back to full confidence, let's measure it and build the plan.
